Women's Scholarship

by David Sadd
(Clarksburg, MD)

Hi Coach. I saw where you've written that guideline times for a high school girl hoping for a division 1 or 2 scholarship is 19:00 or 19:30 for a 5K. Are those track times, or XC, or a road race?

The 5K times are based off of a cross country race. This is for two reasons. First, many states have a 5k race as their distance for the cross country season. Second, the longest race that is usually run in high school track is only a 2 mile or 3200 meter run.

- Take care, Coach Tief
