What I would recommend is to workout, run at least 2-3 miles a day, and stretch. Also, I wouldn't be worrying about your 800 time. Honestly I, personally would be worrying about my 3 mile XC time. Having your 3 mile time at 19:50 (that's 6:36/mile) and doing your 800 in 2:26, (that's a 4:52 pace) I'd work on my 3 mile time, and not worry about speed work. Save the speed work for later. Get lots of miles on your legs.
