Hello im a junior this year and im on varsity right for my CC team and i was wondering during the xc season what should my mileage be my current mileage for the summer has been 40-43miles a week and i have improved greatly throughtout my highschool career from high 30s to 20mins and before the last season ended i made 20:32 but i don't know if i should up my milage or keep it the same what do you think?
That is a good amount of mileage for a Junior in HS, but it could be a little more. Do you run every day? Do you do one long run per week? Do you incorporate longer tempo runs into your workouts? How about putting in a tougher progressive run once a week?
Since you are in your cross country season right now, a lot of the training depends upon your coach. Approach him and see what he thinks. Your improvement from the high 30's all the way to 20:32 is impressive in itself. You can see what running consistently can do for you.
