Heart Rate Zone training

by Hans
(Canada)

I was just tested for V02 max, and lactate. I know what my 5 hr zones are and was looking for a marathon training program that would incorporate the 5 zones into the training plan (ie; tell me specifically to run in Z? for exactly how much time). Would the 100 day training program that Marius Bakken offers incorporate these or is it something else.

Thank you

Hello Hans,

Coach Tief here. I was pretty sure that you could run Marius Bakken's 100 Day Marathon Plan based on lactate, but to be sure, I went right to the source. Here is what Marius had to say.

"Yes you can use the zones in the 100 day plan according to your lactate test. You'll see how I've split all the sessions into Effort 1 to Effort 5 and exact minutes in each effort. This is based on my own experience and knowledge about lactate training (I've got over 5000 blood tests while training) So basically use the zones you got from the test and replace the efforts in the plan with them. It would work real well as the efforts are essentially based on lactate zones.

Kind Regards, Marius"
