I am a female, freshman and running a 1:01.41 400 as of my last meet. I've only had 4 meets this season and know I can go faster, but I only have until this Thursday to prove that because that will be districts, where I hope to qualify for state. My goal is to reach a 58 second 400 and break the school record and be first in my district. Do you have any tips for me to become faster in that short time? Thanx!!!! ~Claire Davis
There isn't much you can do for your training this late in the season. The day before your big race, do a short distance run and then some strides to keep your legs bouncy and fresh.
The rest comes down to your race strategy for the 400. Here's a video on how I suggest to race the 400 meter dash.
